I got this recipe from Mark’s mom, Sandy Henrichsen. These are the most delicious rolls on planet earth and a holiday favorite among the Henrichsen Family.
Ingredients:
- 1 Tbsp. yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup sugar (and 3/4 cup sugar)
- 6 Tbsp. margarine (and 2 Tbsp. margarine)
- 2 Tbsp. fresh grated orange peel
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 3-1/2 cups flour
Dissolve yeast in water. Beat in sugar, salt, eggs, sour cream, and 6 Tbsp. margarine. Add flour. Let rise until doubled (about 2 hours). Knead 15 times. Roll half the dough into a 12-inch circle. Spread 1 Tbsp. melted margarine on top. Combine 3/4 cup sugar with orange peel and sprinkle half on top. Cut into 12 wedges and roll up (like a croissant). Repeat with second half. Put in a greased 9×13 pan and let rise another hour. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Glaze while hot. Glaze:
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 2 Tbsp. orange juice concentrate
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
Mix in saucepan and boil for 3 minutes, stirring constantly.
