Barbeque Beef Brisket

From Quick Cooking Magazine. A very simple, yet most delicious roast. You can make it with any roast but it’s best with a brisket.

  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp. celery seed
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 2-1/2 pounds fresh beef brisket

  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup chilli sauce
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. cider vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp. worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. ground mustard

Combine the first 6 ingredients; rub over brisket. Place in a slow cooker. In a bowl combine the sauce ingredients. Pour half over the brisket; set remaining sauce aside. Cover and cook on high for 4-5 hours* or until meat is tender. Serve with the reserved sauce. Serves 8. *We made this recipe yesterday with a flat cut beef brisket and after 2-1/2 hours we turned the crockpot down to low and kept it there for the remaining 2-1/2 hours. So depending on the size and cut of your roast, you may need to adjust time and temp on the crockpot.
