Sour Cream Vanilla Bread

  • 2/3 C. Water
  • 1 1/2 T. Vanilla
  • 1/3 C. Sour cream
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 T. Softened butter or margarine
  • 4 C. Flour
  • 1/4 C. Sugar
  • 1 1/2 t. Salt
  • 2 t. Yeast

Makes a 2 lb. loaf. Measure all ingredients carefully and place into bread machine pan in the order recommended by manufacturer. Select the basic white cycle with light crust. Don’t use this recipe with the delay cycle.

  2. This is very similar to a bread recipe I came up with, a 'Sour Cream Onion' bread.

    If you remove the vanilla, and add in a packet of Lipton's "Onion Soup Mix" (or any brand, really…), you'll have something that's worth tasting!

    The Onion Soup Mix adds not only a delicious taste, but the smell is quite good. I make it as a wheat bread, and it makes a wonderful gift for friends and family.
